In 2011, Free Medical Clinic celebrated 25 years of serving the City of Winchester and surrounding counties with access to health care for the underserved, uninsured and low income families in our community.
At the first weekly Thursday evening clinic on October 23, 1986, volunteer physicians, nurses and pharmacists, supported by community volunteers, treated 14 patients and filled three prescriptions in a makeshift clinic set up in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church. Today the Clinic continues to make an impact on the health of our community.
Now located on the Our Health Community Services Campus in Downtown Winchester, the Clinic is open five days a week. The Free Medical Clinic responds to the current community needs by providing access to a variety of primary and specialty medical services both on-site and through partnerships in the medical community, and prescription medications are filled through an in-house pharmacy.
